CONSIGNING TIPS
Interested in consigning but not sure where to start with pricing?
Pricing tips are the number one question I get— even though I have a section in our Consignor Guide that details how to price. I totally get it though!!
I grew up shopping resale + consignment, mostly at Buffalo Exchange, then later at resale boutiques and feel like I’ve cracked the code on what prices sell. Why do I feel that? I’ve been the top seller in every Pear sale, that would even be with the percentage taken out. I’m not trying to brag lol— just I am the person I created Pear for so I’m happy it’s working for me!!
As well as so many of my amazing past Consignors!! We’ve had some consignors with prices on the lower end, maybe a $1-$3 above garage sale prices and they don’t feel its worth it— which I can agree. Then we’ve had some that price inventory nearly at new prices and are frustrated their inventory didn’t sell.
The happy medium is more a guessing game, a range of prices— it worked well for me when I had a booth and sold everything from decor to clothing, and the same method has worked here.
tip one: price in 0’s, 2’s or 5’s, for your ending number.
Examples:$10,$16$18,$20,$32,$45,$64. and so on.
tip two: price to sell. Sounds easy, right?
not necessarily tho.. I’ve made the mistake of pricing too high and end up with too much left over. Say I have an Eileen Fisher (expensive brand) dress I could sell on ebay for $60, before fees— i’d need to take photos, list it + ship it if it sells.
i would personally price that item between$38-$52 at pear— since we have a higher chance at selling it over a 3 day sale. If i did the $54 price, I would select discount on the item. Thats a big range, I get it, but each person has a value they’d like to make per item. resellers could chance it on the higher end. If your options are pear or thrift (me!!) I would choose the lower end and discount it.

Consigners, through an online portal to price all merchandise.
Once you have officially registered you will be able to add new items to your inventory in your portal.
Consignors will print their tags at home on ivory or white cardstock paper and attach to items with safety pins or a tagging gun.
Once the sale is live you will then be able to track your sales through the platform as well! (at the end of each day)
We also have a highlight on Instagram @pearpopup called “How To” that walks you through the sign up and pricing process.

For items in new condition, 30-40% of of the original price. Great condition, we recommend 20-30% as a guideline.
Please remember you can discount items to ensure they sell on the final day! The discount will be 40% off for customers.
Price to sell! Customers can spot the value, if it feels too high for what it is it won't sell. If it's a high value item, and the price is higher but fair, those items have sold!
